Los Angeles, Calif. (Sept. 24, 2019) – SESAC Latina artists excel with the recent nomination announcement in a variety of genres—tropical, pop, urban and Regional Mexican—for the 20th annual Latin GRAMMYs®.
Legendary producer Rafael Arcaute, a 15-time Latin GRAMMY®-winner, is nominated for Song of the Year for his work on “Querer Mejor,” recorded by Juanes featuring Alessia Cara.
Receiving four nominations is the Peruvian-American bandleader Tony Succar, in the categories of Album of the Year, Producer of the Year, Best Salsa Album, and Best Tropical Song.
The young Mexican singer-songwriter Christian Nodal, who won Best Regional Mexican Song last year, has two songs nominated in the same category this year. He is also nominated for Best Ranchero/Mariachi album. Both songs were also co-written by SESAC Latina affiliate Gussy Lau.
Norteño powerhouse Calibre 50, last year’s Best Norteño Album winner, is once again nominated in this category with Mitad y Mitad. Other SESAC Latina artists who are nominated for Best Norteño Album are the legendary group Intocable with Percepción, and La Maquinaria Norteña with Amo.
Receiving their first-ever Latin GRAMMY® nomination for Best Banda Album is Edwin Luna y La Trakalosa de Monterrey for Me Hiciste Un Borracho and El Mimoso for his self-titled album El Mimoso.
In the urban genre, the hit song “Pa’Olvidarte,” performed by ChocQuibTown, Zion & Lennox and Farruko featuring Manuel Turizo, garnered two nominations; one for Turizo and one for co-writer Juan Diego Medina.
Winners are selected by the nominees’ own colleagues; professional music creators in the United States, Spain, Portugal and Latin America who are members of the Latin Recording Academy®.
The 2019 Latin GRAMMYs® will broadcast live on Univisión from Las Vegas on Thursday, November 14.
SESAC Latina congratulates all of its nominated artists for Latin music’s biggest night.
