Creative Operations
James Leach serves as Vice President, Creative Operations at SESAC Performing Rights, where he is one of the leaders for its Los Angeles-based Creative Services team in supporting SESAC-affiliated songwriters and publishers. In this role, Leach is also responsible for cultivating relationships, recruiting and signing new talent.
After joining the performance rights organization in 2001, Leach helped to launch the west coast office and explored new business strategies for the digital music/media convergence. As a strong songwriter advocate, he has worked with several talented affiliates including Danja, Harvey Mason Jr., DJ Dahi, Ab-Soul, Gabe Roland, Jacob Luttrell, and the legendary George Clinton.
Prior to SESAC, Leach worked at Famous Music, where he was responsible for signing hit songwriter/artist/producer, Akon. He also established his own music consultant firm, Leach Entertainment, serving as a consultant/coordinator for the urban TV series New York Undercover and music supervisor for Magic Johnson’s Fox TV show, The Magic Hour. Earlier in his career, Leach secured a position at Michael Jackson’s prestigious ATV Music Group, where he handled catalogs including The Beatles, Sly & The Family Stone, Little Richard and Michael Jackson. Leach holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Pepperdine University, Seaver College in Malibu, California.
