SESAC Affiliate Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” Added to National Recording Registry

Today, Neil Diamond’s 1969 hit single “Sweet Caroline,” was among the newest recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress. The song, which has become a popular sports anthem, is among 25 recordings selected by the Library’s National Recording Preservation Board as aural treasures worthy of preservation because of their cultural, historic and aesthetic importance to the nation’s recorded sound heritage.

“We are thrilled to congratulate Neil Diamond upon the induction of his signature anthem ‘Sweet Caroline’ into the 2018 National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress,” said John Josephson, Chairman and CEO of SESAC. “Fans from all around the world—whether at sporting events or wedding celebrations—appreciate and adore the uplifting lyrics and charismatic voice of Neil.
