Laura Karpman’s Oscar-nominated score to American Fiction is an outstanding display of her talent, blending her jazz skills with her long-time scoring experience to enhance the film’s story. The accolades surrounding the score are numerous and well-deserved, and knowing that she is one of only a handful of female composers nominated for an Oscar since 1929 makes this achievement especially notable.
