SVP, Licensing Operations
Jonathan Farmer serves as Senior Vice President of Licensing Operations for SESAC Performing Rights, a leading music rights organization based in Nashville, Tennessee. In this capacity, Farmer provides oversight of the Licensing Division including the General Licensing, Digital Licensing, Broadcast Licensing, Customer Service, and Account Resolutions teams, as well as oversees all sales, collections communications, and operations across the United States.
In 2020, Farmer played a critical role in guiding the Licensing Division through the global pandemic by creating customer response plans, formulating short and long-term strategies to deal with the changing marketplace, and reallocating resources as needed internally to put those plans into action. In addition, he formed a Digital Licensing team to address the music licensing needs of an ever-rising number of digital streaming services.
Previously, in 2018, Farmer was instrumental in implementing best practices in the market to restructure and upgrade Licensing systems, policies, and procedures. This resulted in SESAC making significant improvements in its ability to license venues across the country and to provide improved service to licensing customers.
Since joining SESAC in 2007, Farmer served in a variety of management and in-house counsel roles within the SESAC Licensing Division. Prior to joining SESAC, Farmer served as a trial attorney for civil litigation matters in his hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Farmer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Tennessee and a Juris Doctor degree from Emory University School of Law.
