College Battle of the Bands to Award 3rd Annual National Title

Top Collegiate Music Artists Take Stage in Los Angeles on Friday, June 24

College Battle of the Bands, a collegiate music talent search, will award this year's title to the top artist from more than 100 colleges and universities across the United States. This nationwide search culminates at the Echo in Los Angeles on Friday, June 24 at 8 p.m., in collaboration with its popular Club Underground night.

The College Battle of the Bands competition is open to any student band or music artist of any genre currently enrolled in an undergraduate program. Presented by Chegg, with partners GRAMMY U®, AT&T, SESAC, and the Elfenworks Foundation, College Battle of the Bands has awarded more than $250,000 in prizing in its first three years. The series began during the 2008-2009 school year and has featured notable participants including: The Local Natives, Mike Posner, Apple Trees & Tangerines (now known as Power), and many more.

The 2011 finalists battling for the national title are: Southwest Region winners The Mohicans (Texas Tech University), North Region winners Old Abram Brown (Emerson College), West Region winners Land of Pines (Washington University), Southeast Region winners The John King Band (University of Georgia), and the National Wild Card winner Rozzi Crane (University of Southern California). The National Finale will be webcast globally atww.stickam.com/">http://www.stickam.com, and be hosted by college favorite hype-man Flula Borg.

This year's finalists have made it to the National Finale stage after winning local battles and regional recording sessions, collecting cash prizing from College Battle of the Bands, Chegg, and SESAC, as well as iPods, Jawbone Jamboxes, AKG microphones, annual membership to GRAMMY U, and more. For the final battle, they will be performing in front of industry judges in Los Angeles for the national title and additional prizing, including:

  • An Apple iMac and Final Cut Studio
  • A full-year of textbooks from Chegg
  • Microphones from AKG
  • Chipotle party for 25
  • National trophy prize guitar
  • An opening slot on the Textbooks & Tickets Tour with Live Nation

The event will run as part of the International Grand Finale with Campus MovieFest, the premier event for student film and music makers from across the globe in Hollywood on June 23-26. The weekend of events will consist of workshops and panels, screenings of short films, College Battle of the Bands concerts, studio advance movie screenings, networking opportunities and more.
