Deadline Approaching for Miami Music Festival Performance Applications

Hundreds already received in all musical genres; applications due by July 31st

Musicians from around the world have applied to perform at the second Miami Music Festival, showcasing emerging acts in venues throughout the city on November 12-14, 2010

(Miami, FL) July 19, 2010 – Performance applications for the second annual Miami Music Festival must be received by July 31, 2010 at miamimusicfestival.org. Festival showcases will take place in venues throughout Downtown Miami, Brickell, South Beach, Little Haiti, The Design District, Coral Gables and Coconut Grove. Throughout the weekend, more than 300 performances by emerging artists and artists performing new music will appear on 30 stages, and an all ages daytime BBQ on Saturday and Sunday from 12PM - 6PM will feature performances on stages at Bayfront Park. A two-day music industry conference will take place on Friday and Saturday at The Hyatt Regency Miami, enabling attendees to interact with industry experts and network with other artists from around the world. MMF will work with artist applicants, record labels, artist managers, agencies, media partners and sponsors on showcase scheduling throughout August and begin announcing artist performances in September. Last year, over 200 members of the press registered to attend the MMF.

“With the great response and participation from Miami’s live music venues, the partnerships and aggressive support of media partners like The Miami New Times, Urban Network and others, and the continued cooperation of regional government and national music industry entities, our second MMF is now poised to exceed our goals,” said festival CEO Irwin Kornfeld.

To perform at the Miami Music Festival, artists must complete the online application via MiamiMusicFestival.org and submit a $35 fee to be considered for showcase participation. Both Sonicbids.com and Broadjam.com are official application submission partners. Festival venues will provide some sound equipment, however, artists are required to provide their own backline. Once selected to perform, specific venue information will be made available to artists. All performance applications must be received no later than July 31, 2010, and all artists selected to perform will be notified by August 31, 2009. Members of SESAC, NARAS, and SoundExchange are eligible for discounts of up to 60% on Festival conference badges, which include admission to showcase performances.
