Kerry Politzer started picking out melodies on a toy piano at the age of three. The following year, she started playing the real thing. She studied classical piano for fourteen years, attending the North Carolina School of the Arts and summer programs at Tanglewood and Interlochen. She entered the New England Conservatory of Music with the intention of continuing her classical studies, but fell in love with jazz after attending a concert in Keller Hall. She studied with jazz guru Charlie Banacos, who inspired her to begin composing, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano Performance. Some venues where Kerry has played include Wave Hill, The Blue Note, Birdland, The Cutting Room, the Queen Elizabeth 2, the Columbus Jazz & Ribs Festival, Jazz Improv Live, Rockwood Music Hall, and the Kitano. JJ & The Foreign Cowboys
New York City-based, contemporary country band JJ & The Foreign Cowboys was formed by duo Jennifer "JJ" Johnsen and Jorgen Kjaer (Yan Care) in early 2001. The pair began their musical journey with a two-year residency at The Gold Rush, a country dance club in Hell's Kitchen. "That was such a crazy, fun time", recalls JJ, "The folks there were so picky about what they wanted us to play, but we would sneak our original songs into the set lists anyway. Soon we noticed people singing along even though they had no idea they'd never heard our song before!" Since then the pair has performed all over the country and independently sold over 36,000 copies of their first full-length CD Be the Wild in Me, nationwide. They are currently promoting their new CD Hello wherever you are..., released in Spring 2008.
