SESAC's J.D. Connell Named Billboard Digital Power Player

Congratulations to J.D. Connell, SESAC's VP/Counsel of New Media Licensing, on being named one of Billboard Magazine's "2016 Digital Power Players."

'Connell says he always tackled ­negotiations with the best information available but lately, he notes, "I've learned to seek out more data and analyze it from different angles." The Nashville resident says SESAC is "at a new level of intellectual maturity" in its approach to performing rights deals, thanks to new tools and staff. As a result, the PRO has grown digital ­revenue by 40 ­percent in 2016. "It all goes back to ­making sure you understand the service that you're licensing [to] and how people use the product.
