SESAC’s Steve Coleman Garners MacArthur Fellows Acknowledgment


Congratulations to SESAC-affiliated composer and jazz saxophonistww.m-base.com/" target="_blank">Steve Coleman who was named as one of the 2014 MacArthur Fellows. ww.macfound.org/fellows/class/class-2014/" target="_blank">The MacArthur Fellows Program awards unrestricted $625,000 fellowships to talented individuals who have shown extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits and a marked capacity for self-direction. Coleman is a revered award-winning alto saxophonist and composer whose technical virtuosity and engagement with musical traditions and styles from around the world are expanding the expressive and formal possibilities of spontaneous composition.

Coleman’s recent MacArthur Fellows acknowledgement follows on the heels of two other SESAC affiliates receiving the prestigious award:  Jazz composer and musician Jason Moran was awarded in 2010 and acclaimed musician and composer Vijay Iyer was a receipent in 2013.
