The 2013 SESAC Pop Music Awards to Honor Music Executive Daniel Glass of Glassnote Entertainment with Special Visionary Award
Award Gala on May 13 at The New York Public Library
SESAC, the nation's most progressive performing rights organization, will present the prestigious “Visionary Award” to Daniel Glass, CEO and Founder of Glassnote Records, at the upcoming 2013 SESAC Pop Awards. The awards take place on Monday, May 13, 2013 at the stately New York Public Library.
In recognition of Glass’ tireless dedication to songwriters and immeasurable contributions to the music industry, he is being honored for greatly affecting the lives and careers of songwriters. As a veteran of the music industry, Glass is known for recognizing and cultivating talent before anyone else. Glass launched Glassnote Entertainment Group in 2007, which encompasses a thriving music label, publishing company and merchandising arm. Under the guide, inspiration, and vision of Glass, Glassnote Records has gone on to identify and develop internationally successful artists including the Grammy Award winning groups Mumford & Sons and Phoenix, as well as Two Door Cinema Club, Childish Gambino, The Temper Trap and many more notable artists.
“I’ve always had a love of music and deep respect for “the song” and songwriters, beginning as a ten year old boy who spent all his allowance buying 45’s at Korvettes and S. Klein’s,” stated Glass. “I am deeply honored to receive this SESAC Award. My life has always revolved around family and music.”
With the release of SESAC’s own Mumford & Sons’ critically acclaimed sophomore album, Babel, Glassnote Records shattered the records set by their independent record label peers. The massive release came with the second largest sales week for an independently distributed album, the second largest sales week of 2012 overall, and the high honor of Album of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards.
“Daniel Glass is one of those rare music executives that is able to combine a vast business acumen with a deep love of great music,” said Trevor Gale SESAC’s Senior Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations. “Daniel truly admires and respects songwriters and musicians, and his creative spirit and business savvy shine through in every level of his leadership. SESAC has enjoyed a long and productive relationship with Daniel Glass and we are thrilled to honor him with the Visionary Award.”
Soon to be announced special guests and musical artists will be on hand to honor Glass with the “Visionary Award” during the ceremony.
The invitation-only, red carpet gala event has established itself as one of the most popular music gatherings in the business. Each year, the star studded evening features special performances from some of entertainment's top hit-makers with attendees including some of the biggest names in music. Previously, SESAC has presented awards to the likes of Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Lady Antebellum, Alice In Chains, Mumford & Sons, Chrisette Michele, Bryan-Michael Cox, Kasseem "Swizz Beatz" Dean and Nate "Danja" Hills, among many others.
