Success Stories Highlight NSAI Song Contest Presented by CMT

Submission Deadline October 31, 2012

(Nashville, Tennessee...) - The past 12 years of  The NSAI Song Contest Presented by CMT have seen winners sign record deals, major publishing deals and have had their songs cut by numerous artists. As the October 31, 2012 submission deadline approaches, several of the past winners banded together to produce a video encouraging aspiring songwriters in any genre to send their best songs to be judged by a panel of experts in a variety of categories. Warner  Music Group artist Charlie Worsham credits the Song Contest for helping launch his career. Diana Kelley, Doug Lowe, Kayliann Lowe, Elizabeth Marlowe, Jessie Terry and Andy Timmons all realized success after winning one of the Song Contest categories.

"It was a fantastic experience," said Worsham. "I had a blast throughout the whole process, and I learned a lot from it. Best of luck to everyone who enters!"

Prize highlights this year include a mentoring session for the Grand Prize winner with superstar singer/songwriter Lionel Richie. The Lyric-Only category is back for its second year, and award-winning songwriter Tom Douglas will mentor this year's category winner.

Song Contest Grand Prize and Lyric-Only winners each receive a 60-minute mentoring session with his or her respective mentor at a mutually agreed upon location. The mentoring session is not a co-writing session but rather a chance for the mentor and winner to sit in a casual setting and discuss all aspects of  songwriting and the music business.

The contest offers one Grand Prize Winner, one CMT Listeners' Choice Winner, and one Lyric-Only winner. Additional prizes will include a single-song professional demo, tickets to the 2013 CMT Music Awards in Nashville, a private tour of CMT studios, a performance at The Bluebird Café, meetings with major music publishers and a one-year membership to NSAI, just to name a few.

The entry fees are $35.00 (Current NSAI members) and $45.00 (Non-Members) per song submitted. Songwriters may submit as many songs as they would like, but the preceding fees apply to each song submitted. Entries will be accepted until October 31, 2012 via SonicBids.com online submission platform. For details on submitting songs as well as the official prizes and rules & regulations go to:
