Something amazing is getting ready to start right here in Montana, the first annualww.bigskysongwritersfestival.com">Big Sky Songwriters Festival, presenting an exciting forum for anyone who wants to become a better songwriter, learn about the dynamics of music publishing, and explore ways to have your music heard on a global level!
For its first year, the Big Sky Songwriters Festival has created an incredible environment with a tremendous array of songwriting talent to work with the attendees. Event founder Dave Goodwin, who has split his residence between Montana and Nashville over the years, knew that Big Sky would provide a world class location for nurturing the creative spirit, amid the comforts and beauty of Big Sky.
The goal is to help songwriters, and those who want to learn the craft of songwriting, by providing access to some of the very best in the business.
Instructors for the first annual event include Rory Feek (“Some Beach” Blake Shelton), Steve Bogard (“Praying For Daylight” Rascal Flatts), Chas Sanford (“Missing You” John Waite/Tina Turner), Kostas (“Blame It On Your Heart” Patty Loveless), Jon Mabe (“The Climb” Miley Cyrus), Bruce Burch (“Rumor Has It” Reba McEntire), James House (“Broken Wing” Martina McBride), Suzi Ragsdale (Pam Tillis, Darrell Scott), Austin troubadours Walt Wilkins, Kevin Welch, and Dustin Welch, Montana’s John Bohlinger, Paul Durham (Black Lab), and Jon Pousette-Dart (“Amnesia”) Several industry leaders are scheduled for workshops as well, including Dennis Lord (SESAC), Sara Johnson (Sr. Creative Director BMG/Chrysalis Publishing), Juli Newton Griffith (Sr. Director Magic Mustang Music Publishing for Jason Aldean.), Jessie Scott (Americana Music Assoc., Music Fog) and more. Registrants will learn more about the ins and outs of not only songwriting...but publishing, legalities, and the music business in general.
Each evening BSSF will host exclusive live performances by many of the participating instructors and some special guests. These intimate shows, that will also be open to the public, will take place at the Whiskey Jack in Big Sky on August16th,17th, and 18th. The final performance schedule is soon to be announced to the public.
Attendees will find themselves in one of the most breathtaking settings in North America, at the foot of majestic Lone Peak in Big Sky, for a productive weekend of workshops, seminars, panels, and live performances. It is the first event of this caliber ever to be held in Montana, led by some of the music industry's most successful songwriters, musicians, and publishers.
