SESAC Latina artists take home 4 Billboard Latin Music Awards in 2011
Two prominent SESAC Latina artist/songwriters, Miguel Ángel Romero and Samuel Samo Parra, lead vocalist of Camila, are among the winners in the 2011 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Miguel Ángel Romero’s win was for Regional Mexican Airplay Song of the Year . His composition “Dime Que Me Quieres,””recorded by Banda El Recodo, topped Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart for 17 consecutive weeks. Furthermore, the consistently strong airplay received by “Dime Que Me Quieres””helped Banda El Recodo win the award for Regional Mexican Airplay Artist of the Year, Duo or Group.
Another big winner at the event was Samo, singer and songwriter with the pop trio Camila. The group took home awards in the categories of Latin Pop Airplay Artist of the Year, Duo or Group; Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Duo or Group; and Latin Pop Albums Artist of the Year, Duo or Group. The awards ceremony took place Thursday, April 28, in Miami, and was broadcast live in the U.S. and other countries by Telemundo/ NBC TV.
