SESAC Latina Talent Shines at 11th Annual Latina Grammy Awards in Las Vegas

SESAC Latina congratulates affiliate Samo of superstar pop/rock band Camila who was one of the big winners at the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards, winning awards in the top categories of Record of The Year for ‘Mientes’ and Best Pop Album By A Duo or Group With Vocal for ‘Dejarte De Amar.’ During the awards, which were broadcast live on Univision from the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, the band performed their latest hit single, “Besame.”  In the US, Camila’s nominated album Dejarte de Amar debuted #1 on the Billboard Top Latin Album Chart, stayed there for two weeks, and has remain for 37 weeks at the top of the charts. Camila is Latin music’s biggest success story of the decade, and their success is global. Samo and each of the members, which also includes Mario and Pablo Hurtado, bring an incredible amount of musicianship to the group as songwriters, producers, arrangers and superstar performers.

Also, SESAC Latina’s affiliates Aleks Syntek and Noel Schajris paid tribute to the Latin Grammy  2010 Person of the Year – Placido Domingo.  Known to popular music audiences for his “Three Tenors” performances, the artist was honored as the Latin Grammy Person of the Year for his cultural and philantrophic accomplishments during the celebration on the evening of the 11th Annual Latin Grammy Awards show.  In previous years, presenters sang the top hits of the Person of the Year during the tribute concert.  Placido Domingo instead requested his favorites singers to perform the songs that drew him to a life of music. Among his favorites, was the talented Mexican composer, producer, musician and vocalist Aleks Syntek, who performed Puerto Rican pop start Luis Fonsi’s song “Aqui Estoy Yo.”

The 2010 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year tribute gala was one of the most prestigious events during the Latin Grammy week and was attended by SESAC Latina’s affiliates Fonseca, Erika Ender, Jeronimo Sada and Ecuatorian composer and singer Juan Fernando Velasco, who performed during the pre-telecast ceremony.  Velasco was nominated to the Latin Grammy in the “Best Folklore Album” category.

Banda El Recodo had an outstanding performance in the show with their hit song “Dime Que Me Quieres” by SESAC Latina’s affiliate composer Miguel Angel Romero.  The band was also the winner of a Latin Grammy in the category of “Best Banda Album.” Another outstanding performance of the night, was by international star, Ricky Martin who performed the first single of his new album “Lo Mejor De Mi Vida Eres Tu,” by SESAC Latina's affiliate Claudia Brant.

SESAC Latina proudly sponsored Universal Music Latin Grammy Afterparty. Universal Music Latin Entertainment celebrated their artist’s exceptional talent, dedication and accomplishments in this year’s biggest Latin music award show, by offering its annual Awards Show Afterparty, “Noche de Estrellas.” The invitation-only event took place on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 8:30 p.m. at Artisan Hotel Boutique in Las Vegas, one of the city’s top boutique hotels located right off the Las Vegas Strip. The afterparty was made possible by major corporate sponsors including SESAC Latina (officially the first time for a PRO) Best Buy, Johnnie Walker and The Siegel Group, Artisan’s parent company.
