SESAC Awards College Battle of the Band Semi-Finalists

College Battle of the Bands (CBOB) continues its search for the best student bands and artists during the 2009-10 school year.  There have been 3 semi-finalist winners that will be making their way to Las Vegas for the finals, and SESAC was on hand to award the semi-finalists with a $1,500 check.  Winning the Southern Semi-Finals were Apple Trees and Tangerines.  North Semi-Final winners were Beyond This Point, and West Semi-Final winners were The Oregon Donor.  CBOB events – in cities across the country and promotions at over 100 colleges and universities – showcase the best emerging music artists and award over $100,000 of prizing throughout the tour.

Seth takes care of all music while Jax takes care of the melodies and lyrics. Apple Trees and Tangerines writes, records, films and edits everything on their own in each of their respective dorm rooms/apartments.

BTP is currently putting the finishing touches on a new mixtape entitled This Is A Mixtape?, and a 2nd mixtape featuring production by Illmind (50 Cent, LL Cool J, Little Brother), among others. A highly anticipated EP will be released late 2010.

SESAC's Josh Feingold with The Oregon Donor

ABOUT The Oregon Donor:
Started in 2005, The Oregon Donor is a four-piece rock band from Anacortes, Washington, drawing influence from indie and post-rock bands such as Modest Mouse, Karate, Dismemberment Plan, and Mogwai.

Having earned a highly coveted spot as a contestant in the annual 21 and under band competition put on by Experience Music Project, Sound Off!, the band quickly began creating a buzz with their raucous and disjointed live set. As a result, music fans began blogging about the band, comparing them to the likes of Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Guided by Voices, and even DC artists like Faraquet.

In 2008, the band unofficially released their 2nd full length record, "Somethings", distributing limited copies to NW radio stations and press. The response was instantaneous, they were quickly invited to play on 107.7 The End's local music program and as a result, were invited back to play a packed free show opening for UK buzz band, The Wombats. Now more primed than ever, they've just released their follow-up, 'A Pageant's End' on Oct. 6th, 2009.
