The Rouge

The Rouge

Atlantic Recording Artists, The Rouge, have combined charisma and energy to set a new standard for rock & roll. With their collective youthful edge, headed up by heartbreaker Josh Vaught, this band is as easy on the eyes as it is on the ears. After recently being named Best Indie Pop band at the Denver Westword Music Showcase, The Rouge is gaining momentum and turning heads with their well-received performances. As recent Nashville transplants, The Rouge is currently focused on writing their first studio album, to be commercially released on Atlantic Records.

Superhumanoids

Superhumanoids makes dreamy pop that shouts summery ‘60s harmonies, garage rock’s raw tonality, slick new-wave electronics, and the adventurous dissonance of ‘90s indie rock. Originally a solo bedroom project, the LA band quickly evolved into a multifaceted foursome equally focused on propulsive live performances and glimmery productions for private listening. Superhumanoids’ 2008 demos were passed around by pals to friends of pals, leading to remix work for an array of artists including The Wombats, Zebra and Snake, Xiu Xiu, and Local Natives. Superhumanoids’ upcoming EP, Parasite Paradise, will be released on Hit City U.S.A. in March of 2011.

Hailing from Pittsburgh PA, 1,2,3 consists of longtime friends Nic Snyder and Josh Sickels. They released a 7” single in the United States and released a UK single, “Going Away Party” on Chess Club. The limited edition 7” combines Captain Beefheart guitars, Dr. John style freaked-out tingling percussion and Snyder’s night-crawler vocals while the B-side, “Feeling Holy” is no less arresting. 1,2,3 is signed to Frenchkiss Records and recorded their debut album. 1,2,3 will hit the road soon and their album is scheduled for a spring/early summer 2011 release.

Lord Huron

Lord Huron’s music is an auditory travelogue. Evocative of many places, but tied to none in particular. Lush harmonies inspired by Calypso singers, folk traditions and the American frontier fuse with modern experimentation to create the distinctive sound that was found on their well-received first EP, Into The Sun. The second EP from Lord Huron is called Mighty and it’s out now via Bandcamp. In February, Mighty was released on 12’’ vinyl.

LaRon

Hailing from Minnesota, LaRon, a biracial 23-year-old, is music’s latest star. With influences from Rick James to MGMT to Coldplay, LaRon’s sound is not something that is familiar but is definitely something music fans will love in no time. From the GRAMMY Award-winning production company State Of Emergency (team that produces for the likes of Chris Brown, Ludacris, Usher, among others, and features SESAC award-winning affiliate, Donnie Scantz) LaRon has released his freshman album, Like A Rose. The 10-track LP is a true story and testament to LaRon’s past and present experiences and is an eclectic box of vulnerable and raw feelings, sure to open ears and move hearts and minds.

Oberhofer

When your songs are too big to be contained: form a band. Maybe call it after your family name because you like the way it sounds. Record those songs in the basement of your parents house in Tacoma. When that burns down, shake it off and move to New York. Find a new band to play with, start working on a symphony (no really, do it), mix your newfound formal training with the noisy exuberance of youth. Get raucous.

Yessian

Yessian’s new album not a wave goes by gently guides the listener through a landscape none of us ever want to travel. He shares openly and intimately his feelings of losing a great love and his struggle with that loss. In this album, which is dedicated to his late wife Amy, Jimmy tills the soil in our hearts to ready us for the time of our own inevitable journey through love and loss. Acoustic guitar, piano, and cello dramatically set the mood through his painful, yet beautiful healing journey. His songs inspire us to appreciate even more the moments we share with those we love.

Bonnie Whitmore

Though only in her twenties, it’s hard not to mistake Texas’ own Bonnie Whitmore for one of her classic country counterparts such as idols like Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris and Johnny Cash. Whitmore’s songwriting prowess is obvious on her new album Embers to Ashes. The record encapsulates everything that folk and country have always offered – stories that sometimes hit too close to home and melodies that make you subconsciously sway with a drink in hand. Having toured with Dierks Bentley and Hayes Carll of late, Whitmore will be on the road through 2011 to promote the new album.
