As we move forward into 2010, SESAC is thrilled to be     celebrating its 80th anniversary! With eight decades of impeccable service provided to songwriter and music publisher affiliates, SESAC is poised to continue as a leader in the protection of copyright owners’ rights as well as providing the highest level of services to the music user community while pioneering the use of new technologies for tracking airplay. As we continue to provide the best services based on dedication and innovation, we remain enthusiastic and optimistic about what lies ahead for the music industry: more legal sites for sales; tracking technology is improving; and reliable performance information is increasingly available.

SESAC co-hosted the sixth annual Bryan-Michael Cox Pre-Grammy Brunch in Los Angeles which an impressive list of artists, songwriters, producers and industry executives including Alicia Keys, Tyrese, NY Jets Thomas Jones, Elise Neal, Sylvia Rhone, David Renzer, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Publishing Group, Diane Warren, Eric Roberson, Lil’ X, publishing execs Chris Hicks and Big John Platt, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and actor Keith Robinson. The event honored multi-faceted artist / songwriter / producer Swizz Beatz for his achievements and milestones within the music industry over the course of his career.

SESAC’s affiliates were front and center at the GRAMMY Awards. Big congratulations to Lady Antebellum who took home the trophy for BEST COUNTRY PERFORMANCE BY A DUO OR GROUP WITH VOCALS for their massive hit, “I Run To You”. Also kudos to Rico Love for his work on Beyonce’s I Am…Sasha Fierce which was awarded BEST CONTEMPORARY R&B ALBUM and Monty Powell, the co-writer of Keith Urban’s “Sweet Thing” which won a GRAMMY for BEST MALE COUNTRY VOCAL PERFORMANCE.

SESAC Latina continues to amaze with their growing success on the charts and the extraordinary achievement of having two #1 songs of the decade according to Billboard: “No Me Doy Por Vencido” (Luis Fonsi) by Claudia Brant (Latin Pop) and “No Me Conoces Aun” (Palomo) by Alan Trigo (Regional Mexican Airplay).

With a continued focus on affiliate service and satisfaction, SESAC Latina recently hosted the first-ever Copyright and Song Registration Workshop at the Gibson Showroom in Miami. Alex Perez, SESAC Latina’s Associate Director of Administration, gave an informative and interactive presentation that featured vital tips for local affiliates in regards to protecting and getting paid for their works. A comprehensive Q&A followed the presentation, which allowed the local affiliates in attendance to have many of their copyright and registration-related issues addressed.
The multi-talented Jason Ingram took home the big honors when he was named SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR for the fourth consecutive year at the SESAC‘s 2009 Christian Music Awards held at the famed Loveless Barn in Nashville recently. A profound and prolific songwriter and producer, Ingram was recognized primarily for his work in 2009 with Tenth Avenue North, Mikeschair, Rush Of Fools and Aaron Shust. peertunes Ltd/Grange Hill Music/Windsor Way Music were named SESAC’s 2009 Christian Publishers of the Year. Other SESAC award winners included such Christian songsmiths as Steven Taylor, Ian Eskelin, Brian White, Cary Barlowe, Sarah Reeves, and Michael Doneney of Tenth Avenue North.

Tim Fink had the honor of bestowing a plaque to top-selling GRAMMY-nominated artist and songwriter Jim Brickman during his show with the Nashville Symphony at the famed Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The plaque was in celebration of Brickman’s astounding achievements in music which includes 20+ #1 albums, a popular and acclaimed tour and numerous chart-topping singles. SESAC is proud to represent the copyrights of this gifted artist, songwriter, and musician.
