Stephanie Urbina Jones

It came to her in a dream. When SESAC’s Stephanie Urbina Jones was approached about the idea of recording her first-ever Christmas album, the San Antonio-based singer/songwriter hesitated, saying she’d sleep on it. Jones woke up committed to the idea, penning five new Christmas songs within a week. Spirit of Christmas, the resulting CD, is an instant holiday classic, bringing mandolins, accordions and Jones’ distinctive Tex/Mex country style to her own songs and a few familiar Christmas tunes.

“One Little Boy,” the album’s leadoff single, has been made into a video and is already in holiday rotation on Great American Country. Over the past year, through relentless touring and promotion behind her self-titled 2002 release, Stephanie Urbina Jones has become a familiar name to Texas music fans and radio execs. She recently was honored as the first female artist to hit the #1 spot on the Texas Music Chart (with her single, “Shakin’ Things Up”). Even as she tirelessly promotes her new Christmas record, Jones is getting ready to record another and hit the road once again. Hey, it’s hard work making your dreams come true. www.stephanieurbinajones.com
